Default Heads and Cams

I want to upgrade my heads and cams on my 2000 vette. Its all stock at the moment, but i want to push out 600rwhp when im done without losing alot of everyday driveabilty. Anybody got any info on what kind of heads and cams to go with. I also want to keep it all at $7000 or less.

Look at a good buy on a A/A F/I set up for the car with a set of headders and cat back exhaust also a good set of V/spring for your heads. You will be there...Maybe a good intake and 90 mm T.B. since yours is a 2000 car. That will blow your 7.k Believe me the best you can do for the 7,k...

No matter what heads or cam or intake.....600 Rwhp is out of question. Leave everything stock and slap SC with meth kit and turn up the boost to 11-12 psi, since you will be taking out balancer for pinning the crank, might as well spend another $1000 and slap blower Cam from ECS and valve springs. Assuming you doing the labor now you close to $7k, add another $1k-$2k if someone installing for you. If Manual than start saving couple grand more for new clutch and tires. GL.

My vette has nearly every NA mod in the book, including built internals. I would be very excited to dyno at 470RWHP (W/O Nos).

Do what the guy above me said and install a supercharger. You can even run with a stock cam and exhaust, not to mention retain your drive-ability (won't be 600rwhp though)

600 rwhp on a 2000 LS1 block ? hmmmm. Not going to happen. Sorry

an LS6 race prepared blue printed and balance block, plus balanced race parts then 550 rwhp maybe. But will be lots of maintenance and measured in hours of use, not miles.

a custom build 427 maybe more to your liking

Ive been doing some research and really like all the reviews ive seen on the T-rex cam from Thunder racing, but it's mix matched on whether it will keep my 2000 vette M6 a DD or not. half so yes and half say no. Does anyone have this cam and if its the the cam you want to install in a DD, what are some suggestions on a cam for a DD if this is not the one for me???

^ Actually, it will be quadrupole the amount of horsepower since the lobes will be intertwined while opening and closing at such a vigorous rate...

But seriously, I agree with robert miller and sami85L98, go for an A&A Supercharger kit, throw in some meth and a blower cam + new valve springs and you will be a happy camper.

600rwhp through a H/C setup on a 346ci with everyday driveability and a $7g budget without any power adders is not going to happen. Sorry Bro!

a 2000 M6 DD. hmmm

FWIW,

NEW PP 243 heads.
Good Cam 228/230 581/588 114+2
Fast92 / 92mm tb intake combo
Long Tub Headers, Highflow cats and free flowing x pipe and exhaust.
New CAI
New under drive pulley,

and a GREAT DYNO TUNE.

That would be one heck of a fun DD to drive

power? mid 400s

500 RW is doable NA even maintaining very good street manners, then add 4:10's.

Unfortunately your budget will need to be modified however you choose to reach power levels beyond 450 RW. The rest of the problems with your drive-line & traction multiply.

With that budget, you can send the car to EG and get a Supercharger intalled. Dont waste your time with a head/cam package. You set your goals, and the answer is Forced Induction.

Oh, and don't forget to save some of the budget for a new clutch, and the parts you'll break if you take it racing.

You're about 150 hp off a realistic number for your expectations. You can realistically target about 450rwhp for a nice drivable Head/Cam package, and possibly 470-480 with the utmost in planning and part selection. Any more than that and you'd need more Cubic inches, forced induction or N20.
