Can Anyone help me. I have an 01 C5 that has the strangest problem. when it rains or I just wash the car the whole electrical seems to short out. I have no power at all, when I open the door I hear a nasty electrical pop but cannot tell where it comes from. If I jump the car using cables it will start but then the radio works on only half power and no front speakers. I guess as soon as everything dries the radio comes back to full power. I had a chevy mechanic look at this but he was no help. Has anyone ever seen anything like this????

Common issue. You need to check for water in the passenger footwell. If it is present, disconnect the battery, and remove the BCM...and get it dried out!
IF,,, you DO find that the BCM / Fuse Box area and the under side of the carpet is WET,, you will need to resolve the reason that causes the water to get in the car. Most likely you have CLOGGED Windshield Cowl drain udders. Remove the battery and you will see a 2" rubber hose connected to the bottom of the cowl. Pop it out of the COWL but DO NOT pull it out. I usually just use garden hose and BLAST it thru the tube to flush out all the crap that builds up inside and clogs the tube.
On the other side of the cowl, there are THREE small rubber drain udders. They frequently clog and cause wiper motor failure. They can be accessed by reaching in the fender hole between to the outboard side of the power brake booster and the CLUTCH Master Cyl (if you have a manual tranny. The rubber udders easily pop out and can easily be reinserted in the cowl.
You can also have a clogged HVAC drain. Check out this stickey post. It has all the pictures that you need:
Well It rained its *** off in southern fla yesterday and my car did not start after I got it home and in the garage. I pulled the panel and checked the rug and the bcm/fusebox area and all is dry. I put jumpers on it this morning and everything is back to normal. I chacked codes because I have NO IDEA what else to do and I get an RFA code undetermined (u1000) and b3061 (left actuator short to gnd)

The NEXT time you expirence the NO START issue, open BOTH doors and grab one of the rubber accordion tubes and shake the hell out of the wires inside the tube and then see if that changes the problem. If it doesnt, do the same procedure on the other tube.
What type of failures do you have with the wiper motors. The other day I noticed that there was water on both the passenger and driver side floor. Then I started up the car and my wipers came on with them switched off. The only way I could get them off was by pulling the fuse.
The wipers still stay on continuously. Is the solution replacing the wiper motor or could it be something else. If it is the motor how do you replace it. Thanks Gary
