You are getting body control codes--A door replacement could be the culprit as the elec. windows etc use the BCM--and you also are getting "Lost Communication codes" that indicate a shutdown of the entire BCM----looking fo arbad grounds is on the rite track-- i suspect the pass door is causing a major fault

100% correct!!!!!!!!!! EXCELLENT DIAGNOSIS!
Pull the rubber accordion tube out of the door frame and door. Pull the connectors out of the door frame/ A piller. Seperate both connectors. Examine the FEMALE PINS. Look for pins that are spread apart. You can use a metal dental pick or a scribe and bend the little metal contact tong that makes connection with the male pins so its tight again.
mine just started doing this EXACT same thing last week, 3 times now so far since ! You guys saying this is a wiring issue in the "doors" or am i misunderstanding this ? I was wondering if it was electrical....should i grab a scanner and check for thrown codes then i guess almost 170,000 miles on the clock
Yes, inside the accordian tubes that connect the doors to the rest of the car is a connector. One lead is NOT insulated right at the harness, if it grounds out, the BCM freaks out. Pull the accordian out from the A pillar and take a peek.
There are NUMEROUS reasons your car can shut down on its own. Some of the most common reasons have been mentioned. The door wiring harnless issues stems form a POOR connection in the door harness electrical connectors. The bare wire is a speaker shield wire and although It can maybe cause an issue if it touches other wires, the most common problem is a damaged electrical connector FEMALE PINS.
They spread and loose connection. If the right wires make poor intermittent connections,, it caused errors on the serial data bus and the modules error out. Theres NOT one specific symptom but most of the times the door/s wont work and the dash lights and sometimes gages freak out.
Pop out the accordion tube, disconnect the two connectors in each door frame and examine EACH female pin. Look for damage corroded, bunt, spread pins. If there spread, use a pick and bend the little tong back up so the male pin makes better contact.
I test each pin with a spare male pin to make sue the female pins have the correct grip.
See if you can GUESS which pin is BAD in this picture?????
Went looking on the forum because my 2001 C5 A4 turned off out of nowhere today while coming to a stop in Walmart's parking lot.
Car drove fine... no sounds, nothing. Just looking forward and "Check Gauges" light came on. Turned down the radio, and relaized car wasn't running and coasting to stop.
Put the car in Park... and it started right back up.
I came here to start trying to figure out what was going on so I went out just now to check my trouble codes.

So... As soon as it's light outside tomorrow, I open the connector up and see whats going on.
Thanks for the help from everyone else.
You make owning GM products and their electrical issues a little less painful.
