shopping exhaust systems
Not directly related but I had a hooker aerochamger catback on an older Fbody, and I was pretty happy with it there. Good aggressive sound and affordable in that application. But if the Vette systems are $600+ like my quick google searches imply, I don't think that's the best choice. Not stainless, and the tips look like just regular single thin walled tubing, not like the XSPower tips which are very nice.
If you can get the hooker system for ~$400ish that starts to make a ittle more sense....
If you haven't already go to youtube.com and search for c5 hooker exhaust and you'll get some sound clips of it.

The BAD part that will cause you to HATE your system is one of the following
Either it wont be LOUD ENOUGH,, it will be TOO LOUD or it will DRONE very loud at every day cruising speeds and DRONE SUCKS Especially if you have an automatic trans.
Save your cash, find some C5's that have aftermarket CAT Back systems and see if you can get a ride in their car. If it sounds good COPY it. Remember, engine mods WILL change the way an exhaust system sounds.
I have STAINLESS WORKS headers and a STAINLESS WORKS complete CAT Back system on my 02 ZO6. The system sounds GREAT. It never was excessively loud, had ZERO DRONE and at WOT it screams.
I added the next round of MODs.
Patriot Stage II heads, Aggressive Whiplash Cam, Ported FAST90 Intake.
Those MODS "REALLY" woke up that exhaust system!!!!!!
Its a LOT louder (not overly loud) and WOT really gets attention now!SO,,, moral of the story is, Do your research and purchase the right system the first time.
I have two low quality videos of the ca on the dyno at the two different HP level,
The first is with stainless works headers and the stainless works exhaust system, ported TB and a VARARAM @ 390 RWHP:

The second is with the heads/cam/Fast90 up grade @ 450 RWHP

Wish I had a better recording.

When it comes to exhaust systems if you ask 10 people you will probably get 10 different answers. The first thing you need to determine is what exactly YOU want from the exhaust. Once you determine then you can start asking more specific questions until you narrow it down to what system will fit you best.
You can find a lot of information about out different systems at www.bbexhaust.com or contact me directly and we can discuss this in more depth.
