TPMS mystery
I bought my CCWs in 2008 with new sensors installed.
About three weeks ago upon turning the car off, I got the "service tire monitoring system" and all four wheels went to XXX for the pressure. I tried multiple iterations of the relearn procedure, but to no avail.
I then detached the battery for an hour, hooked it back up and that cleared the codes, but my pressure readings are now all blanks. And the relearn procedure still doesn't work, although I've driven the car around trying to "wake up" the sensors.
My FOBs work perfectly, so I presume the receiver is OK. Does anyone know if it's possible for the receiver to work properly for the FOB function but be kaput for the TPMS function?

XXX normally means a bad battery at the TPS but I've never heard all 4 fail simultaneously.
Is it going through the relearn properly? Do you get a honk at each wheel and it moves on to the next wheel? If so does the pressure just go blank?
Any codes?
No, none of them gives me a honk. I even tried four others sitting in the driver's seat and they won't go either.
The only current codes I got after the initial incident were for the four sensors. Now they are history codes since I disconnected and reconnected the battery.
I've done it successfully in the past, so this has me stumped.

You need a STRONG magnet. At this point blank means they are not learned. It takes 15-30sec or so with the magnet on the stem to get the horn to beep LF-RF-RR-LR . Learning will time out if the magnet does not turn it on. Try again if it does till you get a horn beep.Driving around will do nothing. They have to be taught 1 at a time. Not sure why they went to XXX though that is strange.
Yes, I did try a very strong magnet that I use for my fish tank, but that didn't work either.
I have always used a largish pickup tool magnet that has always worked. I was even considering one of those ATEQ devices.
Thanks.

You just need to find a really big magnet. I used a speaker magnet the first time I reprogramed the TPS. This time it didn't work and I had to buy a HUGE magnet. The one that worked is so big it clamped to the rotors before it gave the "honk"
Thanks very much!
