selling my vette to a guy and he is claiming he heard something about alot of cars blowing motors around 100k mileage due to timing covers breaking and killing the motor. Any info I can give him?
I told him I have never heard any issues with vettes. Plus I have the extended warranty which would take care of it if the time came. No issues with mine I just want to let him know its good to go.

BS to what?...I am just trying to get some info so I can prove to him nothing is wrong with corvette timing chains..
I have a 99 as well. But am selling it to a guy tomorrow that is worried I guess about the timing chains. Hes older so he has heard a lot of things thru his years.

So if I understand correctly. You have a potential buyer, that does not know his a$$ , from a hole in the ground, about LS1s, and the burden of proof is on YOU....to prove the timing chains/covers(whatever)....don't break at 100k miles.
Just pat him on the head...and tell him "everything is going to be just fine
The only issue I know of is if the car is used for road racing. There are harmonics in the upper RPM range that can cause the timing chain to break, between 3,800 and 4,400 RPM. Doesn't sound like something the prospective buyer would be doing, and if he is more power to him. Here is some information on the subject. Link
I also had some other information via PM from someone at GM but I inadvertently deleted it

Trying to prove a negative is hard to do. Harmonic balancers are another issue.
When I was building my LS2, there was some issues with timing chains breaking in them, but it seemed like underdrive pulleys were the common denominator there. I left underdrive off mine and did IWSIS chain. 2 years and 15+ track days with no issues so far.
