Default Should stock C5 automatic fishtail when hitting second and third gears?

The used C5 I bought for my wife continues to surprise me. the acceleration ability rivals my 375 fuelie powered MG-TF. I wish there were an easy way to tell if their have been internal engine mods!
The only external mods I can see are Corsa exhaust and dual K&N filter setup. The shifts are a lot crisper than I've ever had with a GM automatic as well.

No for a stock automatic corvette this is not normal unless on ice.
Buy new tires, before your car kills you & your wife.
Tires may look decent & new but they loose their grip, when old.
Check the "born on" date of the tires.
Be carefull untill then.

New tires make a big difference. It will still pull causing a big grin to appear on your face, but it will do it without scaring the sh*t out of you.

Either way, you should not be chirping or even close to chirping 3rd gear unless the road is wet/icy.

That is not necessarily true - perhaps he has 3.15 gears and a handheld tuner was used to firm up the shifts etc?

Yes this can happen - did the previous owner ever do anything to the Vette that you know of -

It really sounds like either a street tune was done on it or even a Handheld tuner - which can and will really change the whole feel of the A4, seriously firms and hardens the shifts as well as the RPM and MPH at which it shifts thus equaling the sideways fun

Do you know if you have the 3.15 gears? (G90 & G92 Code located in the glove box) - these coupled with a handheld tuner or street tune done by a shop will do it for you (even with 2.73's)

Thanks,Matt 661-406-7516

Michellin ZP's. Mar 07 My tire guy who's been in the business for 40 years says they are in good shape and the rubber is still soft. The car was always garaged.

The shifts are seriously firm and hard. The fishtailing comes with traction control ON I don't want to burn up the tires by spinning one wheel! It's got the G90 and G92 codes. It has Corsa exhaust and a carbon fiber over-the-radiator duct and dual K&N cones in front. That's all I can find. Can't get in touch with previous owners. The 3.15 gears likely explains why I get only 30-21 mpg.

The casting # wont be on the white tag they will be stamped onto the head, usually on the corner closest to front of car on passenger side of head probably will be 241. I'm just wondering because IF someone were to do internal mods I would think they would atleast upgrade the heads to a 243 or better. I suppose not everyone will do this though.

Okay, if you say so. I doubt 3.15 gears allow tire spin from 2nd to 3rd...at WOT you'd be around what 80-85 mph?? I'm a 2.73 car with mods in sig..COW tune..still won't even bark second but for maybe a millisecond. Bald tires or not.

The op is saying this isn't even a "chirp" that the car is actually spinning..I'd like to see a stock C5 spin going into 3rd on dry pavement. not calling BS just saying I'd like to see it on a STOCK car.

Car is modified and/or tuned.

Does your car lope at all? Any possibility of a high stall converter??

It shouldn't be spinning too severely with the traction control on either just so you're aware. Should spin for a brief second then cut power back to gain traction.
