What effect does the drivetrain have on RWTQ. I have read that drivetrain loss accounts for about ~15% where RWHP is concerened but how about RWTQ? I have a manual coupe with 3.42's making 540 RWHP and 470 RWTQ. Starting to take a look at clutch options and see that they rate TQ capacity at the engine.

If the drivetrain loss diminishes HP, it must diminish TQ too. TQ is derived from HP.
Yup I agree, just wondering to what degree. I don't know if there is a percent to apply like we do on the HP end or if its more complex than that. Alot of knowledge on CF and I'm sure an answer will come along.
Torque varies as it goes through any gear ratio so maybe that's why you're thinking it's different for toque then HP. Fotunately, it seems most if not all wheel dyno's reflect the RWTQ back to engine rpm meaning the quoted RWTQ number does represent the engine torque less the the drivetrain losses. So, I would add something like 30% to your number and use that as the minimum torque the clutch should hold. It's probably more like 15% in reality but 30% will be sure to give you a little extra clutch capability.
Thanks! So that works out to about an 8 % loss given a stock rating of 350TQ. Hopefully a few more will post up to see if that holds up or someone posts up that does not work and why.

You do realize, that you can call a number of vendor/shops, and they can tell you EXACTLY what you need.......no math, no guesswork, no opinions....just a solid recommnedation, from people that do it for a living.

Hi Lucky. Yup I realize that but I would like to have an idea for myself. A vendor is going to offer what they think I need, opinion, from what they believe, experience . Hey they might be right, probably would be, I just like to do some background ahead of time for reference, due diligence. Plus I was just curious if a percent could be applied?
Thanks for the thought and in the end my shop will have a say,
