Default HVAC fan not working

Had an interesting day with the new to me C5.

Had a dead battery this morning, which I just now (evening) determined is most likely due to my changing the setting for the dash lights to always be on, while I was playing with some new features of the car.

So the jacktard who jumped me ended up crossing the polarity on my battery, which seems to have caused some issues.

First - the radio and HVAC fan were dead. I found the fuse for the radio which was indeed blown, and once replaced we had radio again.

This afternoon, the car was dead again, I replaced the battery with a brand new one, and even now the HVAC has no fan. The unit in the dash seems to work correctly, meaning the lights are on, and the indicator for the fan levels change etc, but no actual air moves. I tried pulling every fuse I could find that might have something to do with the HVAC, and they were all good.

The only codes the car is throwing related to the tire pressure sensors - the HVAC shows no codes.

Any ideas on where to look next?

On the positive note, I took my first on ramp to a freeway in the car today.

Thanks in advance

Check all of your fuses. Also put a meter across the battery and measure the voltage with the ignition off and again when the car is running. The DIC programming, there is no option for keeping the dash lights on all the time and after about 10 minutes, the power will terminate to all the lighting just to prevent something like that from happening. Check your headlamp switch.

Thanks for the reminder - when I signed up I did not yet have the car. She is a 2000 Torch Red Coupe.

Thanks for the information you were able to provide w/o model info.

Cheers

it is dual control (passenger and driver), has dials on both sides and an auto setting.

Thanks again.

Heres the Blower Motor Schematic:

The complete module is located on the underside of the HVAC Air Plenum in the passengers foot well:

The rear screw plate is SLOTTED, so just loosen them

Heres the inside of the module:

Here is what usually fails. See the burnt foil trace:

Thanks for all the help - I thought I had pulled fuse #51, but it was really #50 I had pulled - miscounted slots due to empty slots. What clued me in was the schematic showed a 30 amp fuse, but I knew I had pulled a 60amp. The real #51 was indeed blown, but I got to the autoparts store 1 minute too late. I will have to wait until tomorrow.

I love this forum - it has been a great resource for me - I hope to be able to pay it forward as I learn more about these great cars!
