My C5 just failed smog because the battery had been disconnected for the past couple days, and according to the smog shop, the computer didn't have a chance to relearn yet. How many miles do I need on the car before the computer relearns enough to pass smog?
I just had this happen as well. I drove the car 100 miles to reset everything and according to the tech he said that one of the computers was still not registering but was acceptable by the State of California. I was surprised as well to learn that this was the case by disconnecting the battery. Apparently this is the case on cars from 1996 to current.
Anytime you disconnect the battery OR reset ANY of the PCM related DTCs, the PCM Emission Ready Flags go to NOT ready.
Yep,, it takes drive time and drive cycles. Drive it to work and back several times. It will warm up and cool down and thats what makes the drive cycle happen. To get the fuel system flags ready, make sure that you have more than 3/4 tank (BUT NOT FULL)
Most states allow one NOT READY Flag to pass.
If you don't want to go to the emissions to check the readiness, swing by Autozone and they can use their scanner to check the readiness codes/flags

The fuel level needs to be between 20% and 80% for the evap monitor to run. Here in n.j. You can have one monitor not complete and pass, 99 and older two not complete and it will still pass.
Or - if you have tuning software you can set everything ready and turn off those nasty offending codes..
There's no codes to turn off, his I/M tests haven't run yet, that's why he's not passing. If you clear ANY codes, YOU WILL FAIL because the I/M tests will need to run again.
Be sure to let the tank get below 1/2 so the evap test can run.
