Jet Hot ceramic coatings claim "Surface tempatures drop by as much as 25% and independent test report drops as much as 300 degrees" See http://www.jet-hot.com
This is very true and those of you who "believe" SS headers are better just because they are SS, need to check out a car with similar headers but truely ceramic coated. Real ceramic coating prevents the exhaust heat from entering the tube wall, as the coating is both internal and external to the tubing. I have had several F-bodies with ceramic coated headers, through Jet Hot as I lived right next door for a while, and I have many friends who had the same style headers uncoated in their F-bodies. I can GURANTEE you the coated headers give you a MUCH cooler engine bay.

SS is an excellent material, but in the case of SS headers and what I consider to be extremely overpriced options for the C5, I would love to see a company produce a thick wall, mild steel header truely ceramic coated for the C5 and offer it at a reasonable price.
