Just replaced leaking brings at the a/c compressor. Charge amount sticker has been missing since I have had the car. Anyone know what the freon charge amount is for a c5?
Again, its based upon the local temperatures and system capacity. A little too much, the over-pressure switch will insure it doesn't run. A little too little, it won't run either. If you know how to use the guages, cool and go for it otherwise you need a professional. I made this mistake already therefore I ended up at a professional shop. Its not like the old days with R-12, add till the bubbles in the sight-glass went away. R134 is a different monster and is installed differently.
if you go to autozone one can of artic freeze freon i think it is about 24 oz it contains freon and oil and you can add it yourself it comes with a guage to know how much your putting in it retails for about 25 to 30 dollars
I don't think the artic freeze in the can will work as he needs to use a vacuum pump and pull it down to the right micron reading. I usually just pull a vacuum for 3 hrs to be safe.
All you guys should follow bill's links. They are very good and informative. I just wanted to know what factory fill was so I could program the recycled machine. If you open up to atmosphere you should do you work right then and it takes only 20 minutes to vacuum the system down adequately. With r134 a little low is better than a bit overfull. I had .79 in my system and it was okay, but not freeze you out cold. I did the recovery, vacuum and recharge today, now it will freeze you of there.
