I recently did a wheel brake upgrade and I have brake dive which becomes very unsettling at high speeds. It feels as though the left front tire is consistently biting first and throwing the car off balance. When I brake hard in a straight line the car stays straight and stops great.
The upgrade consisted of:
DBA Slotted brake rotors (very nice rotor)
HAWK HPS pads
Stainless steel brake lines
19' ForgeStar F14
F275/30 R305/30 Hankook Evo V12 (weak sidewalls compared to the Verdesteins' I was running before)
raised the front up about 1/4 of inch, was all the way down on stock bolts prior
professional 4 wheel performance alignment
I also had my brake calipers powedrcoated through an exchange with
Mike the powdercoater and I am thinking this might be the problem. My guess is the calipers I received in the exchange are not a matching set and one could be more worn then the other causing uneven performance. However, I would think if this was the case then even under straight line braking the car would pull to one side and this is not happening.
It doesn't affect normal driving but is very dangerous when high speed braking coming off a corner or sweeping turn. Needless to say, lately, I've been very thankful of GM engineers for designing an excellent Active Handling system.
Any ideas?

Reason: correction
My 45K mile 02 ZO6 was very unsettling in high speed sweeping turns, especially if the road was rough. It would skidder across the road when the tires hit the rough road. C6 ZO6 shocks completely eliminated that problem!

I am very happy with the Bilsteins and the car is dialed in through the turns, not skittish at all, that is until I hit the brakes.
The new rubber is likely performing differently and making you think it's the brakes.
I think you might be right, I had a 40 series tire up front and a 35 on the rear before the upgrade. I think some of what I am getting is the much quicker turn-in on the 30 series rubber, it could be that I am just not use to the steering inputs with this tire and when I brake it magnifies it. That and the fact that I think the Hankook sidewalls are not nearly as stiff as the Verdesteins, they just don't transition well under side loads. Moreover, maybe I am getting a little tracking with the much larger tire up front.
