A friend of mine has a B&M short throw on his C5...drove it...like the short throw aspect of it...but I don't like the force you have to use to shift. I always planned on getting the Hurst shifter anyway. Does anyone know how the two compare? Or know of a different company thats good also?

FLK-JR Basically this is a very opinionated. Also, when you go to a Short throw shifter, it does make it a tad more difficult to shift.
I personally have a hurst that I shortened even more.
Im not sure how this question is "beating a dead horse"...but if you have insight it would be nice instead of your "behind the safety of a computer" sarcasim. smh
The reason lucky posted that isnt to be mean. Its just a subject that is posted alotttt, but IMO, you can always learn something in a thread, no matter what its title. Good luck!
Asking which shifter is the best is kind of asking which color is the best. Its very subjective and truly in the eyes of the beholder. Ive already owned a Kirban, B&M And a Hurst... Now I have an MGW. So far, I like the MGW best of all. Its very precise and the all important 2-3 shift is almost impossible to miss. The overall quality and fit of the MGW is also a bit better than the others. This is all my opinion though. I bought the MGW in almost brand new condition from a guy here on the forum ewho didnt like it too much....

It is.
I just took out my 10 year old Hurst about a week ago. The new MGW is so new it's not even on their website yet. It has a new locking collar and the handle is adjustable up or down. No more tube of silicone for a gasket either, they ship with a die-cut silicone gasket. The adjustability is the big plus though. No more choosing long/short handle.

They have a pretty nice range of adjustment up or down so you can pick your poison. That thing is machined from billet stainless bar stock and they even include a small tube of synthetic grease as a thread lube. The overall fit, finish, and quality is the best I have ever laid eyes on. You almost hate to cover it up with a boot.

i completely agree... you can tell just by looking at it that they take alot of pride into building it... i haven't driven on mine very much since i installed it but the only thing i don't like so far is the firmness... i will have to drive on it more to see if it loosens up a bit and if it doesn't then i may try the "antivenom" mod... i have the handle threaded as far down as it will go with an 08+ c6 **** which installs on the top hole of the shaft and the height is perfect to me... i can rest my arm on the center console and the **** is right there and i no longer feel like i'm trying to elbow someone in between the seats when shifting to 2nd/4th/6th... this is the only shifter i have owned besides the crappy stock shifter so i can't compare it to any other brands... i'm sure there are a few other good choices besides the mgw so just do some more research and make a decision

I did the AV mod at the same time. I went conservative on the washers (2 Dorman copper) and they miked .082 total after I filed one down some. It does make a difference, but it's not as dramatic as some may say. I'm still getting used to the different feel. So far so good though.
I just installed the Callaway short shifter and I love it. However, I have nothing other than the stock one to compare it to. I can say that it is very solid, surprisingly easy to shift. It almost knows which gear you want to shift into and says, "here you go, let me snap it in there for you!"

After having gone through 5 different shifters, IMO, MGW is top of the line.
