i completely agree... you can tell just by looking at it that they take alot of pride into building it... i haven't driven on mine very much since i installed it but the only thing i don't like so far is the firmness... i will have to drive on it more to see if it loosens up a bit and if it doesn't then i may try the "antivenom" mod... i have the handle threaded as far down as it will go with an 08+ c6 **** which installs on the top hole of the shaft and the height is perfect to me... i can rest my arm on the center console and the **** is right there and i no longer feel like i'm trying to elbow someone in between the seats when shifting to 2nd/4th/6th... this is the only shifter i have owned besides the crappy stock shifter so i can't compare it to any other brands... i'm sure there are a few other good choices besides the mgw so just do some more research and make a decision
You should be a real chap and snap a pic of it for us
If thats not too much to ask for
Btw Anyone know the Throw %? the old is only like 25%(their website) and IIRC hurst is at 30-35%.

not the best but here's a quick one... i also have a 1.5" shorter redlinegoods shift boot fitted for a c6 ****... it fits the **** very well... you will notice a slight bulge towards the bottom of the shaft but it is not because of the boot, the mgw is pretty bulky in that area... btw it is in reverse in this pic
I absolutely love the combo of MGW, and C6 ****. It takes quite a bit more effort, but is precise, and very well made. I've had stock, C6Z, BPP, and now MGW, and I'm happiest with the last. BTW, did you know that MGWs come as a two piece design, and you can choose a handle that fits a stock C6 ****, or a standard threaded one for aftermarket *****? Nice option, IMO.
Im not sure how this question is "beating a dead horse"...but if you have insight it would be nice instead of your "behind the safety of a computer" sarcasim. smh
Because you obviously couldn't be bothered to use the search.
There really are a lot of threads here about the best shifter but I love my C6 shifter. I had a Hurst and didnt like it. I switched it out for a C6 one that had been cut down and threaded and then put a delrin ball on it. Shifts very smooth and has a nice short throw on it.Best part is, it cost me 50 bucks for the shifter from a corvette recycling website and then 10 bucks for the **** from ebay. I cut and threaded it myself.

I really like the "cut" down look. Going for that look myself. MGW sells their brand with a shorter shaft. What is the process in cutting it down?
After trying a few short shifters I ended up modding a stock C5 shifter. I took an inch off the threads, then seperated it and took an inch off the bottom. I also heated it and bent it back a bit(I like sitting a little farther back in the seat). I've found it to be the best compromise. It has a throw distance about halfway between stock and the shorties I've had. But is still just as smooth and easy shifting as stock.
A friend of mine has a B&M short throw on his C5...drove it...like the short throw aspect of it...but I don't like the force you have to use to shift. I always planned on getting the Hurst shifter anyway. Does anyone know how the two compare? Or know of a different company thats good also?
I've had the Hurst in my car for a little while and I've always liked it. I like the heavier feel and the preciseness locating a gear over the stock shifter. However due to a very recent injury to my arm and shoulder I had to take it out and put the stock shifter back in beacause the extra effort to make the 5th, 6th and reverse shifts with the Hurst make it difficult to drive my car. I didn't remember how vague the stock shifter felt but at least I can drive my car still instead of needing an automatic. My Hurst is back in the original packaging, ready for someone to buy. I've got it in the "for sale" section. PM me if interested.
Compared to the Hurst style, there is no effort in a cut down C6 shifter at all.
You basically get yourself a die (i forgot the size at the moment but the info is readily available) and then lock the shift handle in a vice. Cut the first inch off of the top and then start the die to thread the ****. I took me 10 minutes total to get it ready to put in the car. It is a little notchier than my stock C5 **** but no where near as tough as the hurst.
I did alot of research not just here but other locals as well. The MGW has a great rep and the new version has a fully adjustable shaft. It is threaded on the bottom side so you can screw it in and have a short throw or unscrew it so you have a longer throw (easier effort) it is a little pricer than others. just my 2 cents

How is shifting to 5th and putting it into reverse on the b&w and the hurst? I have a Hinson and I absolutely hate it it’s so hard to get it into 5th and reverse is way to close to 5th it’s dangerous. Thanks Aidan
