Default HUD Fuse?

Like so many things old, the (2001 c5) HUD will no longer rise to the occasion. Found it hanging low, at half mast, with only the top half display still visible. It lost it's full view position without any input from me. When it would not rise to full view, I lowered it completely out of sight, to resurrect it from a dead start. Again, it regained only top half visibility. Finally, after several repeated attempts, not even the top half becomes visible.

It has been suggested that the relentless S Florida sun may have taken it's toll on some vital plastic part(s) that control the device. Given the symptoms outlined above, the problem is most likely that, mechanical. However, before I drop big bucks into a new unit, I want to check a 15 cent fuse, just in case …

However, WHERE IS THE FUSE?
I checked the owner's manual, which directed me to the Fuse & Circuit Breaker section. Unfortunately, nowhere in this section can be found a mention of, or a clue about a HUD fuse.

Yes, a windshield screen has been purchased, alas, a little late.

Regards, GRT

Usually when we hear this, it turns out to be one of the pivot pins inside of the hud itself. Some have managed to repair them. The only way you'll find out is to remove it. You will need to remove the dash pad cover itself.
