Should I get Ed Wright or LS1 Edit programming?
Which would you get if you had a choice? The LS1 Edit will be around $100 more expensive I heard.
Can I do everything with LS1 Edit that Ed Wright can do?
I will have a heads/cam package done at the same time (that is the reason for the programming).

You can do most of the things that Ed Wright can do....but some things that he is not likely to do.....LIKE SCREW IT UP!!!.....sometimes someone needs to save us from ourselves. I will rely on Ed's experience

Don't worry, I won't be doing it...Mike Norris will.

I would buy LS1edit and let Mike Norris tune it on his dyno with it. You can then keep LS1edit to make any changes in the future such as shift points, firmness, etc..

Just a heads up wrt LS1-Edit since this may be pertinent in your case, the gear scaling still isn't fixed as of the v1.05 beta (and tire scaling just plain isn't there. :() Nevertheless, I'd still say it's a better investment.

What is the gear scaling and how will this effect my 3.42 gears in my A4 that I have?
Re: Should I get Ed Wright or LS1 Edit programming? (2000^C5)
What are some examples of things I can't do?
Iam not sure exactly. Visit http://www.ls1tech.com to know more about it. Typically LS1 Edit should be enough for your application (i.e. gears, converter, head/cam). Having Mike doing a dyno tune with LS1 Edit is a much better choice than doing mail order tunning with Ed Wright.
Re: Should I get Ed Wright or LS1 Edit programming? (2000^C5)
The gear scaling feature allows you to globally correct for your gear change, adjusting shift points, TCC lockup, etc in one fell swoop. All that works fine from a table perspective but closer analysis of the transmission output shaft, input shaft, and TCC slip speeds shows that they are not in fact scaled. This is mainly an issue for the slip code, P1870 *I think.* No biggie, Ken is aware that there's more to do. I mention it mostly to say that although it's not a perfect product, it's still a very good option.

Hands down go with LS1 edit and live dyno tuning with Mike. Its a no brainer. Especially since you will have LS1 edit for any future mod changes such as gears if you go that route.
Re: Should I get Ed Wright or LS1 Edit programming? (Nitrovette)
agreed. LS1 edit and a tuner with experience is the preferred solution than the hit and miss approach that Steve Cole and Ed Wright could offer via mail. Yeah, they are the experts, but they are still dialing in a program remotely based on averages.

I have a 6sp trans and will have a 418 motor in my car shortly. I had planned on a computer reprogram via Speeddemons should I have Chris do me a LS1edit instead?? The engine will have 42lb injectors also.

I say that if Chris has experience with ls1 edit (and it seems to me that he a very knowlegabe tuner) and can get that bad boy on the dyno then full steam ahead with that plan. :D

I Know Ed personally, i live a mile away from his shop. He has always done a great job for me. The best way thought is to visit his shop and have him Dyno Tune it, but i guess thats out for you!
