Alright well I have searched and tried everything I can think of so now I need to ask you guys for help.
I have a 1998 c5 manual with about 80,000 miles on it... I have a little bit of excesive pinging that is really starting to bother me. I have looked up a lot of different things to try but I can't find a solution. The only check engine light I have is p1441 and that only comes on every once in a while... from what I have seen it is unrelated and the pinging came before the p1441 code (although I am trying to get that fixed)
Here are the symptoms. In almost every gear when I first tap the pedal to accelerate I hear a little pinging that goes away after just a split second, it is definitley wosre at lower rpms but seems to be pretty consistent... that does not bother me too bad but when I floor it through the rpm range it I will hear it ping a little bit, go away, and then come back near the top end and will last for about 2 seconds if I don't let off the gas right away (no i don't drive it like that all the time, I am just trying to diagnose what is wrong). The pinging is definitely worse at higher operating temperature and has gotten worse since summer hit. I believe that is because the engine is running hotter and the air temp outside is hotter.
Here is what I have tried so far...
New knock sensors, wire harness, and new wiring to the PCM
I ran MCCC (mopar combustion chamber cleaner) as listed here on this site
New spark plugs
Clean MAF sensor
I have checked as best I can for a vaccum leak. there is nothing audible and I have checked all connetions I can see
I have ran seafoam through a couple of tanks
I always run chevron premium
I have tried octain booster and it does not affect it whatsoever
well does anyone have any ideas on where to go from here
Do you have a reputable tuner in the area that could look at fuel trims and other related settings? Pinging is a fuel issue in my mind but I am not an expert. Have you looked at your injectors? Fuel rail pressure?

I don't know any tuners... to be truthful I have never modded my vette, or any othe car for that matter. The car is stock except for CAI...
I will have to look into fuel pressure. Other than the pinging the car seems to run great... idles perfect, accelerates well...

The car should be logged to be sure of A/F etc first, but also try directly injecting SeaFoam into the engine via a vacuum hose. I use the EVAP line myself. Let it sit for 30 minutes to an hour and start it up. It will smoke like you blew a head gasket for a while, but it is much more concentrated then going in the tank, and can sit on the piston tops dissolving the grime away.
This takes some finesse, you do not want to hydrolock the engine, just keep it sputtering while ingesting it, and have someone ready to shut the car off right as you empty the bottle. It works wonders.

Great technique and I was about 95% sure that was going to work... I actually tried the MCCC and the Sea foam and neither produced any results...
Pinging (pre-detonation) is "usually" caused by a LEAN condition or carbon deposits on the intake valves or pistons. The easist thing to try 1st if to Seafoam the beast and see if your carboned up. The bits of carbon get hot and preignite the fuel charge.
