It will take money out of your wallet! When air is compressed by a compressor (turbo or blower) it's heated up, the intercooler helps lower that temp. Since your NOT doing that-you can guess the rest.

 

I would guess it would reduce the amount of power your engine is making.

The reason for an intercooler is to remove the heat from the COMPRESSED air out of the turbo/blower or supercharger. When you compress any volume of air, it heats up. The HOT air looses it's efficiency in the combustion chamber (LESS POWER POTENTIAL)

The sole purpose of the intercooler is to remove that heat so there is more power potential in the increased air charge.

Adding one to a NON FI intake will actually impeed air flow. remove zero heat and block the air flow from the radiator for no reasom at all.

NO....Dont do it.

COOL DENSE AIR from the front of the car like obtained from a VARARAM is as good as it gets for a NON FI engine..

Was this a serious question from the OP? Would you honestly think to attach an intercooler without forced induction?

Unless you have converted your car over to where its not an EFI car anymore then you dont have a carb let alone two.

You received several good answers but along with your line of thinking I have seen guys ice down thier intakes during runs.

I couldn't tell you if it made any measurable difference but a Cool Can used to be the hot tip! The fuel went through coils in a can filled with ice. Of course, these were carburator days.

So, keep thinking and you'll pick up several tips that will help over time here! I did follow your logic when I read your questions though.

 

You plan on running Compressed CO2 or Freeon in the inter-cooler to reduce the air temp of the intake air to increase HP ?
