Nice but pricey.

I would have to keep my car 21 years at the rate that I use my car for this to pay for itself.

The Walmart near me now only carries the new ECore filters for our engines...total junk in my opinion.

At $219.00 I think this filter is a huge rip off - even if it is made with stainless steel and billet aluminum - maybe $50.00.

I like how they claim that this is green and no toxic disposal.

Details from their page:
Easy to clean (hot soapy water). No modifications are required. Installation of the filter takes less than 5 minutes. Easy to install (No special tools needed). Easy Monitoring of the engine (simply unscrew the canister). Reduce maintenance and repair costs. No toxic disposal.

What do they recommend we do with the hot soapy waste water?

Got to love marketing

I've heard that these cleanable stainless steel mesh filters DO NOT filter as well as a paper filter !

Besides, imagine the mess in cleaning these, yuck !

It would take about 20 oil changes for that thing to pay off for me. So, I would be looking at 10-15 years.........

if it does, I would be a bit concerned about the flow rate. usually the metallic filter media is much thinner than the cellulose. take the same filtering capacity with less thickness of the media = more restriction.

if you do buy one of these, check your oil pressure before and after install at the same temp. depending on if you did the oil pressure sensor relocator or not, the pressure may increase or decrease. this will let you know if it is putting additional strain on your oil pump. most people dont run purolator oil filters on vettes due to this reason.

(i cant remember if the sensor relocate puts the sensor before or after the filter in the system, so i'll let you figure that one out )

The stock C5 oil pressure sensor is located AFTER the oil filter, so higher pressure equals less restriction and more flow.

I stopped using DELCO Premium UPF filters because they were too flow restrictive, went to WIX filters. My cold oil pressure increased 10-15 psi.

My '67 Jeepster Commando had an oil bath air filter.

Cleaning that was ... not fun.

Oh and I love the whole "no toxic disposal" bullchit. Right because the CELLULOSE in a normal filter is toxic, correct?

Same here. I won't go near a Ecore filter.
I get the Good one at Autozone, Advance or dealer.

Ecore?

My local Wal Marts only carry Fram (garbage) or Supertech. The latter is actually a quality filter made by Champion. Lately I've just been getting the Purolator PurOnes at Advanced Auto.
