Default Pushrod length

I have just resently checked my pushrod length this weekend while my car was down for other repairs and I would like some input on what I found.

To start off with, I am running a virgin LS2 block (never decked) with and aftermarket cam, and TrickFlow heads with Yella Terra rockers.

My stock pushrods were 7.4 before the heads, and with the TrickFlow heads, they are thicker than stock heads. I was told to run 7.5 rod and I have been.

This weekend I finally got a hair up my rear to check, dont know why I havent before. I found that 0 (zero) lash on my Intake valves to be 7.500 and on my Exaust valves to be 7.475. I checked the rocker tip sweep area and it appears to be spot on in the center of the valve stem tip. (the washers are in use under the pedatels for the rockers)

Now from what I am finding, people recomend any where from .050-.100 in preload on the stock lifters, am I correct? Should I be running 7.550-7.600 inches on the intake and 7.525-7.575 inches on the exhaust? What do ya'll recomend?

Is it noisy? With that little preload I would think it would be quite noisy.

It was a sewing machine man. It is my own fault for just trusting what is said instead of figuring it out myself (went on the word of a shop for the correct pushrod lengths)

Should I purchase 7.575 & 7.550 length push rods, meaning is .075 a correct enough preload on the lifters?

I think you mis-typed, but 0.075" should be a good preload.

ok, having a really hard time locating a 7.575 in push rod. Would it be ok to just run 7.550 instead?

Call Trend, they will likely stock them. Also, if your heads will accomodate larger diameter that should be considered. If you contact Brian Tooley at TEA he may be able to advise you on this. I had Trend make the double taper pushrods for my AFR heads as they wouldn't clear 3/8" straight. Trend makes the pushrods for many aftermarket including Comp.
