I am wanting to put a 3:15 1 rib Diff in my 04 C5 ZO6. What is the difference? Is it just weaker and how much. I don't drag race but autocross. My starts are fairly easy, I don't dump the clutch and very little shifting if any but I am runnig 335x17 A6 Hooisers. Any forseen problems?
My class does not allow changing gears only the complete components
I dismissed chasing the 3 rib when looking for a replacement rear for my car (going from 2.73 to 3.42). However, I lucked out and the unit I bought was a 3-rib, seller did not indicate this or I probably would have been outbid.. Anyway for my power level ~ 500rwhp, either would be fine. Thing is there are so many 800+ HP cars on this forum the topic comes up alot. For your application I would not think twice about running the one rib.
Most of our courses are on High School parking lots. 30 to 45 sec courses. the MM6 C5's with a taller 1st gear can do the whole course without shifting where i either have to shift back and forth or let it hit the rev limiter at 1 or 2 places on the course. The same with the C6 ZO6's. Plus first gear would be easier to drive if it was taller.
