I switched out my battery yesterday. I now have a recurring display that the tire pressure system is not working. I stopped by the dealer and had the codes run and cleared. The guys says that the power interruption was the issue and it should be fine... It was for 5 minutes... now I am getting the same display again. I drove it 100 miles last night and cleared the code two or three times.
Any suggestions on getting the thing back to normal?
All you need to do is RE-TRAIN your TPS. The procedure is inside your OWNERS MANUAL!! Theres also a procedure in the owners manual for re-syncing and retraining your FOBs.
I don't believe it's in the manual. However, if you start with the FOB learning procedure I believe you just press the options button to change to the tire programming. At any rate, press one of the buttons above the one it tells you to press to start the FOB learning (as in the last button press) and it will change to tire sensor learning.
Then, when you get it to say program RF tire just take a big magnet and walk clockwise around the car starting at the RF, holding the magnet right around the valve stem of each tire until the horn beeps.
Once you've done it once you're realize what a simple job it is. The dealership will likely want to be paid for an hour or 2 of time to do a 5 minute procedure. I have a brick magnet stuck on the inside of my garage door for just such a use.
