A bad SWPS should not cause false activation. It should set a code and deactivate the system.
It is setting a code:

And I repsectfully disagree...if a sensor's output signal is inaccurate but within the normal operating range, that does not neccesarily mean that the CPU that monitors it can identify there is a problem and therefore may not generate a diagnostic code.

But it (or something else) was causing a false activation up till yesterday. I cleared the code and drove it this morning. It is back to its old tricks, activating the AH and not setting a code. I did check them before I shut the key off.
What is the best way to access the C102 connector, I am guessing its under the battery. Can I get to it through the wheel well or should I take the battery out?

I have heard reports of battery acid leaking onto the various modules and connectors in this area which is why I'm thinking you may want to check C102 before just throwing a SWPS at the problem. Taking out the battery is where I would start, and if you see signs of leakage, corrosion, etc. then dig further. Not sure about the wheel well access?
After checking everything that the good folks here suggested I decided that everything was good. I ordered a swps from a vendor here. Took a little longer than the two hours some here have done it in but got it changed without any problems. We went on a 300 mile road trip and everything worked great.
Thanks to everyone who help find the problem and those who posted the great how to posts that helped me change it.
