Default New Toys :)

-smile-

I own a black '97 coupe, 126k smiles, 6-gear damn fine auto-mobile.

Just got the Vette back from a bit of maintenance and a few upgrades, done by Loud Pedal Motorsports here in Phoenix Metro area.
(they're down in Tempe actually)

Maintenance:
Clutch didn't feel right so did some research about a reasonable upgrade and decided on replacing it with the LS-7 bits.

Weatherstrip was vintage '97 and missing chunks here an there.

During teardown discovered that the 'couplers' on each end of the driveshaft were cracked, dried out, and had 'play' in them.
Also discovered the rear main seal leakin a bit.
Flywheel was burnt, disc was very shiny and a bit thin for material
(both very bad signs that previous owner had ridden it long and hard)

Upgrades:
Aluminum radiator to allow for more hp addons later
B&B catback to add pure music goodness out the back

Cruisin back thru Metro Phoenix area, including a stint crawling thru construction zone at 25mph, outside temps were sayin 110, motor was happily idlin along at 195 F (kept stock thermostat, allows cooling system to function at its best) .. Ron Davis radiator for the win.
Car ran at 225-235 before in similar conditions.

Clutch is smooth as butter now and locks up *tight* when and where I want it to. The new couplers eliminated all the sloppiness I felt in the drivetrain as I snick thru the gears.. now it's very solid into the gates and I actually have to 'watch it' a bit comin off the apex of a corner or adding power thru any corner ..wife hates when I drift it out on throttle Night and Day difference.

Weatherstrip .. there are zero squeaks inside and no wind noise until past 75mph ..it would be 'quiet' if it weren't for the B&B exhaust
-very evil grin-

Those two cannons stickin out the back now with minimal mufflerage.
Oh My.
Comin off a light, goin up an onramp, playin in a tunnel ..pure musical goodness.
Blowin by a fart cart with it's trash can muffler and just drowning them out with a V-8 singin out loud .. ohh yaa.

And it makes a bit more power .. bonus!!

I *like* this car.
More.
