Default Will the ZR1's equipment work?

I was wondering, would the spark plugs and wires from the c6 ZR1 work in my C5?

The huge increase in power from them might be an issue!

Not worth it.....considering you'll have to upgrade the transmission, differential, etc.

Default Plugs/wires

Do any of you guys recommend a particular spark plug brand and wire, or is stock the way to go?

Is the car stock? NGK TR55.

Don't expect spark plugs and plug wires to give you any power.

Unless you are boosted or on nitrous, stock plugs and wires are fine.

I would swap the engine and see if that works while you are at it. I don't think the hood will clear though

That being said, what exactly do you "like" about them?

More performance compared to other plugs you have tried? Longer lasting? Less expensive?

You all are going to probably make fun of me but yes my 100k motor(at the time of install) seem to accelerate more freely. And being that they're platinum, I shouldntnhave to change them again. Price I think was $50.

Also to add....
Horsepower TV did a hi mileage C5 with bosch 4 plugs. It dunked 11hp higher.

My friend with a 2001 Z06 bought the MSD coil packs and didnt notice a difference,or at least enough to justify it's price.

I have Bosch Plus 4 plugs in my 1998. This was before iridiums. I changed out my daughter's Malibu's iridiums with 110,000 miles and they looked new! I would use iridiums now in all my cars.

Out of experience I have had nothing but problems regarding Bosch plugs. That was the very first thing I stuck in my Vettes and when the rumbling came to tumbling I couldn't figure out why it was missing. Of course after speaking to my ASE cert. brother he asked me what plugs did I put in. After I stated so he said "Those things burn out like light bulbs".
A new set of NGKs later-he was right.

After owning so many cars, I come to find out this was an issue in many cars I procured. All of the missing cars had Bosch plugs in them. Amazing but true.

If you have less than 50K miles maybe even 100K miles on the car it probably doesn't need new plugs. I haven't changed a plug in a C5 or C6 in 14 years of owning the cars. Still have a set of some sort of plugs in the garage that I was going to put in the 97 and I decided it was running so well why mess with it. I sold that car 8 years ago. While cleaning out the garage the other day I stumbled upon them.

my mechanic that built my first few motors for me while i was learning said the same thing. i put them in my import and my domestic, and ended up pulling them both out. its NGK now for any car/engine i use. this comes from my own experience, master mechanics in the army, ASE mechanics, race engine builders, etc all telling me not to use Bosch. i have some +4's in my garage i havent used in 5 years that i figure ill give a friend that would rather have free crappy plugs than expensive good ones

If you CAREFULLY examine the BOSCH plugs (be it the 1, 2, 3 or 4 electrode PLUG),, you will see the metal platinum/palladium tip in the center of the spark plug is approx the same size as a .5mm mechanical pencil lead.

Its surrounded by a ceramic insulator. The metal tip is just about FLUSH in the insulator. Over time,, that metal platinum/palladium electrode will erode down BELOW the ceramic tip and cause all sorts of issues. Under severe use,,, it doesn’t take long for it to wear down!

I took a BOSCH plug apart once to get the platinum/palladium center electrode out of the plug. Wanted to see how valuable it was. Well,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, those bastards are NOT stupid! The platinum/palladium precious alloy is a very very very small tip section fused to a metal electrode core conductor. SO,, not much of the plug is PLATIMUM! Truse me!

ANY new plug will make your car run and idle better when you initially install the new ones /change out the old ones!. They don’t have to be $25 each for the engine to run much better!

Been there and done that! Wasted the money! At least it was only in a 4 cyl turbo Volvo and they were only single electrode BOSCH plugs. Glad I Didn’t waste an arm and a leg on the more expensive ones! They worked good for a while. A lot shorter than they were advertised to last!
You do know that any spark that you install in the engine will ONLY FIRE FROM ONE SINGLE ELECTRODE POINT and NOT all the multiple other electrodes!!! IMHO< multiple electrodes are SNAKE OIL!

The ONLY reason to run ANY of the fancy metal plugs is Sparkplug LONGAVITY!

If you run a standard copper core AC Delco or NGK TR55's, with NOS TR6's, Denso IT20's they actual work better BUT,, will NOT last as long as a iridium plug.

Platinum/palladium electrode/cathodes are just for the 100K mile service life and add NOTHING to HP/Tq increases!.
