Default Repairing Leak between MN6 and Diff.

I'm repairing a leak between a MN6 and the diff. I have a shop manual and I'm as far as getting the rear crossmember out and starting to disconnect stuff to lower the tranny/diff as per the shop manual.
But looking at it, it seems it's possible to just lower the tranny/diff at the angle as shown in the manual, then pull just the diff off to repair the leak, without pulling the whole tranny/TT/diff out of the car.
So has anyone that done this repair just pulled the diff off without pulling the tranny and TT out? Or am I missing something and need to pull everything out?

Yes Sir!

The diff will come right off once you get the unit low enough to clear the trunk.

Did you pull out the cradle first & then the differential?
If there is a leak @ the very end of the trannys tail shaft & differential
meets, it is probably the o ring.
If it's leaking between the end of the tranny & where the tailshaft of the tranny bolts together, it's most likely a seal that needs to be replaced.
good luck.

Yes, pulled the cradle, then dropped the drivetrain at the angle shown in the shop manual, then pulled the diff off. It is actually leaking where the extension housing faces the MN6, the one that is sealed with RTV. Going to check the o ring though while I have it out.

That is where my m/12 is leaking too.
Is that the the only reason your pulling the diff or do you have other plans while apart?, like ... differertial work, tranny/diff brace, reinforced/thermal tunnel plate, etc.

While you have it out I'd suggest replacing the output shaft seals and if the left side cover hasn't been resealed at an earlier time, I'd pull it and reseal it too.

No all I'm doing is repairing the leak. It's not my car it's owned by a friend of a friend and he got an outrageous quote form a stealership to repair it and when he found out I have access to a hoist he hired me to do it. Although with all the access now it would be an excellent time to do all or any of the things you mentioned.

I agree, but it's not my car, I'm getting paid to do it and the owner just wants the leak fixed so he can sell it.
