Starting Procedure for 6 Speed

I think parking in reverse has no impact on my battery.
The thread title was formulated on initial mis-information from the dealer stating I should start the car in reverse. The next day the dealer indicated I should park the car in reverse as stated in the Owners Manual instead of starting the car in reverse.
Although the dealer indicated the audio converter is not draining the battery, I think it was a good suggestion to connect its power to the ignition switch.
I think it is fantastic that people on this forum are so helpful.

There was a bunch of these that were wired incorretly or incorrectly for C5 useage. Look in the AUDIO Forum and you should be able to find the post. I will try to find the post on how to rewire it so it isnt on all the time.
If it were me,,,,,,, I would

That STEALERSHIP sounds like there real winners!

When something is "SHORTED" think of blown fuses, smoke, melted wires, flames or no signal.
Did they conduct a battery current draw test of the electrical system. If the answer is I DONT KNOW or NO,, your issue is NOT resolved and will still give you issues.
Youe car is designed to sit idle for in EXCESS of 30 days and should still be able to crank and start the engine. PERIOD!!
C5's DO NOT need to be left in reverse to prevent any battery drain issues
That service writer is NUTS!

My Z06 very often sits 2 weeks at a time. Starts up every time ! I dont use a battery tender either.
I always leave my car in first gear when parked. LIke said above.... I think GM recommends you put it in reverse because of the higher gear ratio... not because of battery drain.

Thanks for taking all the time to post to my thread. You have been a huge help. I bought a multimeter and checked the current. It was 3.66 mAmps.

It is always powered on. If you do a search there is a simple fix that a forum member did and took photos. I did it and it fixed the problem. The fix is to change the wire that is hot all the time to a hot only when the ignition is on.
