The battery in my 2003 Corvette Convertible was replaced in March. The dealer found no problems causing the battery failure and clock problems.
The clock will still not maintain time.
I drove my Corvette 8 days ago. Yesterday the battery was dead. I used the charger to get it started this morning. I took it to the dealer this morning. They are still running checks and will call Chevrolet tomorrow.
The technician indicated that if you do not start the Corvette in reverse gear, the battery can discharge. Is this a MYTH?
The only aftermarket electrics are a window valet module, Homelink visor module and an adapter for GM10-Aux Audio Adapter.
Dealer called and said relay was bad.
Service writer again talked about reverse. She updated what was said earlier. She recommended parking the car in reverse. She didn't mention starting it.

Ask where this information comes from. There is a TSB for the 2005...ask her to show you the TSB for the C5.

I leave my 6 speed in the garage usually in 1st gear with the E-brake on for a week or more at a time in the summer not on a trickle charger with NO problems. If I go more than that I plug into the trickle charger as a matter of habit.
Same here...1st gear, parking brake...no issues for me. Service writer is full of beans and hot air. Most likely you've got a bad battery or battery connection at either the battery itself or the starter solenoid where the battery, alternator, fuse boxes and solenoid all come together.

the audio adapter is probably the culprit. i know that mine would draw current from the battery even with the ipod unplugged. i ended up using the aux wire from under the passenger footwell that is switched with the ignition to power it.
turn key to accessories and let gauges swing and settle
turn key to start car.
let idle for 2-3 min.
WHAT? I start mine all kind of ways. in gear/out of gear, eith E-brake ON/OFF-I usually drive away in a minute or less. He has some aftermarket thing draining his battery.
I think GM "suggests" reverse is for safety and the higher gear ratio in reverse makes the car harder to move-don't think it has anything to do with electical power.
