I'm looking for a write up or more info on what is needed for the swap to go from the stock C5 M12 transmission to the(zR1?)T6060 tranny/diff set up.
Through my searching I believe what is needed:
C6 Rear cradle
C6 Rear lower control arms
Pfadt diff bracket
Aftermarket oil cooler(size? brand? where to mount??)
I believe I also read that you must modify the exhaust as well?
I'm looking to start sourcing the parts to do this swap so here in the next few months so I'm trying to get an idea of what I'm getting myself into, lol.
Talk to Rick Kim. RKT-56.com best guy to ever deal with. I saw in person a face-plated
T6060 trans he was putting together for a member in Alaska.
He answer anything for you.
I believe I saw one if his FS threads a while back which gave me the idea originally. I'll get in contact with him for sure, thanks!

Rockland Standard can do the conversion. ADD in a rebuild diff with 3.73 gear
RPM can as well
Rockland can do dog ears rears too. Wohoo no clutch shifting at speed.
the down side is any racing quality trans will be LOUD.
I'm not looking for the ratios out of the T6060 or looking to try and build my stock diff as I want to start fresh with the stronger platform of the entire T6060 transmission and diff, and for being close to the same price it makes more sense to me to go this route.
I'm still running the stock motor set up so this will not see "real" power for another year or so when I can afford to start building a motor/blower set up. I figured I'd get the drive train out of the way so I dont have to mess with it later on, and gives me room to play with a HCI set up while I build the boost set up without worrying about breaking something.

Thanks guys for the props!
I have 2 of my sponsors with this set up (TR6060 with C6 Z06 diff). Here is the list:
-C6 cradle with lower control arms and spring (if you run coil overs, you need just the cradle)
-Phadt offset trans mounts
-You can run with or without the coolers (trans/diff)
-Modify the exhaust (remove a section from the mid pipes and add that piece to the over axle)
I do have 1 kit (C6 cradle with lower control arms/TR6060 MZ6;MM6 ratios/C6 Z06 diff) available for sale that I have not listed yet.

Thanks for all the replies and help!
Have you priced out the new and used units? TR6060/C6 diff are a lot more expensive than T56/C5 diff. Ask me how I know.

I just blew up my m12, and lost most of the fluid, so I assume the case may be involved. What would you recommend, Rick. I can't rebuild the trans, but I can R&R it. I'd just as soon have a super duty (600RWHP) built trans, without the C6 parts. PM me if you think best. I'll be ordering parts soon, Dave.
BTW, I would probably do the diff at the same time.

If you don't really race the car often but just want lets say ZR1 gearing using the stock 04Z tranny is fine, or is it just better off doing a 6060 conversion??
What would the approx price differences be?

Why the ZR1 ratios? The 2.29 first gerar will take A LOT of power to be useful. To give you an idea, a car with MM6 (2.66 first gear) will be equivalent of having 2.94 differential gear. BLOWNBLUEZ06 is the only C5 I know of using the ZR1 TR6060 who puts down 1,021 RWHP.
IF you can find a used ZR1 trans, it will be pricy. A new ZR1 trans is over $4,000.
If you can find a Z06 TR6060/C6 Z06 diff/cradle with control arms, it's around $5,000. You can buy the same set up with all the upgrades for just less than $7,000.
I have a blower motor with equal power to the ZR1 so I just figured. Thats why I ask the experts. I just feel like when I launch if its blowing the tires off you just need to shift to often as opposed to the C6Z OR ZR1.

I have built diffs for superchaged owners with 3.15 gears. Much cheaper option if you're not tracking the car.
Bret (BLOWNBLUEZ06) went to the MM6 TR6060 first but couldn't get traction below 80-85 MPH so he decided on the stronger and lower gears of the MH3.
The internal parts are made of better metal than the other TR6060's (MM6/MZ6).
Gear box ratio and appropriate differential will certainly be my next mods...
Starting on a TR6060 base with ZR1 ratio and 3:73 rear end...
Right in my engine power band, avoiding wheel spin first and second, and having a nice steps on the last four gears:
I was just looking into this. My 03 Z06 puts out 440hp/405tq to the wheels and these M12s cannot hold up. Im grinding gears now and wish there was a solution to this aside from getting it rebuilt over and over.
