I had this problem recently as well on a 2000 C5 m6...I went in the foot well removed the relay that came with the recall...tapped on it a few times put it back in and its getting me by till I get my CLB.
Got to thank all of you for helping me solve the steering lock problem on my Sons 98. His wheel locked and I tried all that was put out there until it came loose, I will be ordering a CLB today!!!
THANKS!!!
Same issue. Interestingly though, I already have a CLB in place. Has been in place for several years. Couple weeks ago I disconnected battery to do some work and now getting Service Column Lock warning and keeps cutting off car after 4 or 5 feet. Electrical no doubt. Any ideas?
i called my local dealer and they ran my vin but said the issue was closed. ANY IDEAS WHAT IM LOOKING AT?....THIS ISSUE IS DRIVING ME NUKIN FUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't get that. I just had mine fixed by the dealer this summer for free due to the original recall not being addressed. Was yours taken in for the recall? Even if it was, and it's messing up again, any reputable dealer would want it remedied and should do it without charge.
Picture this:
You're driving down the freeway and your serpentine belt breaks. You're too involved with the scenery and trying to figure out what happened your radio to notice you have a "service engine" light and your battery is going dead. Now, with this column lock failure, there's a possibility that your steering wheel could lock up at freeway speed and where would that leave you?
