Default Frame cross bar

Got a different kind of question. On a 98, there is a part of the frame that runs right behind the seats up high. It is the cross bar that sits up about 4 inches at the very front part of the cargo area. Is that a piece that can be used to mount some equipment? Just needing to drill a few holes for bolts. Is there anything running through that tunnel ?

Thanks for any help, Bill

That's an area I have not looked closely at but there is a fuel transfer pipe between the left and right fuel tanks and I wouldn't be surprised if it runs through where you want to drill.

Not a good idea, the top of the fuel tanks along with the fuel fill transfer hose are located within the recess created by this cross member.

Default Frame ****

Here ya go.... An up close and very good view of the bare naked frame:

C6 ZO6 Aluminum Frame:

Some of the pictures detail whats inside that header... Theres a FUEL CROSSOVER TUBE inside that header. BE CAREFUL!! There have been a number of people that have drilled into that crossover. The C6 frame is the same in layout as the C5 frame and the fuel crossover tube is in the same area on a C5.

You can do it, but you have to be very careful of the fuel crossover tube pictured above.

Wrong answer, the top of the fuel tanks are located on both sides outboard of the fuel transfer tube.

I know they are. People still mount things there, but you have to be very careful when drilling holes or driving screws.
