Default Third Brake Light Removal??

My center, third brake light is loose. I tried to access it by removing the carpeted panels inside the trunk, but wasn't able to get to it. How can I get to it?

remove the nearest taillight, then you can reach in from there. it's got two nuts holding it in, one on each side.

Agree w/Paul. If your right handed that side & the other side if your left handed. You have to do this by feel. Good luck!

Do not over tighten. A little loose is better than stripped threads.

This is to replace the lamp but answers your question.

Third Brake Light Replacement

Remove one of the tail lamps
You can get to the 3rd brake lamp unit through the tail light opening
Disconnect the electrical connector from the stop lamp
Remove the screws holding the lamp to the rear fascia
Take out the old lamp

Fit the new lamp in the rear fascia housing
Loosely fit the screws
Align the new lamp
Tighten the screws
Reconnect the electrical connector
Reinstall the tail lamp

I found it easier, with more room for your arms, to go through the back-up light/ license plate surround, it's just 2 more screws to remove, and then the 3rd brake light is directly above. Remember everything is opposite and you are working blind, by feel.

This is how I did it when I changed my 3rd brake light.
