Default ls7 camshaft

How well does the LS7 camshaft work in an LS1
I know there are other options but I'd rather have the LS7 camshaft
Because I have one of those already in the garage

That cam is designed for big cubes and high-flowing intake and heads. It is really not suited to the LS1/6.

Wont work at all.

talk to your engine builder about a sec design cam for your heads and application.

works just fine. been running it in my LS6 for over 2 years. You have to use an LS2 timing sprocket, front cover, and relocate the cam sensor.

Curious about the behavior of this cam in an LS1/6. Do you have dymo sheets? E.Ts and MPH? Thanks

What do you want your car to do?

Not just part A or part B but what is the overall goal for your car.

Most engine builders will let ppl know that they over cam their engine.

the dyno chart above could use a little explanation to help ppl understand how those numbers were made

I would think that he could find a more tailored cam for his situation. Not knocking that it can be done....but I would think he'd be better off with a more conventional solution. Not to mention that the cam sensor relocation and other mods might take his "economical" solution out as a factor and he could spend the money on a cam that suits his needs better.

If you need to change sprockets, covers, and relocate the cam sensor, that is not worth it...you will be already past the cost of a custom grind.

There is much more to this than most people think. The LS7 has a different rocker ratio compared to the LS1/LS6. It is also design for higher rpm. Point being, you can't just pull your stock cam and drop in a LS7 cam and expect good results.

You simply stated that it would not work, I offered a rebuttal that it would work. Although it might not be the right choice for his application. My chart was made on 28psi TT346

My engine setup
Stroker Kit 383
Mast Motorsports Heads Cathedral Port 11 Degree Small Bore LS1 / LS6 CNC Assembled 215
Mahle Piston
Ls 7 cam
And the cam must be street legal in Sweden and that is the worst thing
etc
