I had the same problem 04 CE Z06. I tried the banging door method, didn't work, and I had a clicking sound also. I removed the door pannel, reached into the door and removed the electric motors outer housing which is attached with allen head bolts. Cleaned it up, reinstalled, and the motor has worked fine for over a year now.
