converting to LS6 MAF
I am converting my 2000 to the LS6 MAF. I have the adapter cable. Do I have to disconnect the IAT from the air duct? If so, which one is it and do I just "unplug" it" Will it throw any codes?

reasonable question. I blew my LS1 this summer and installed an LS6 in its place. Since everything else is converted, and I race the car, I figured I would upgrade everyting to LS6 before my dyno.

To Fred.......If you have the correct adapter harness, then it should plug into the new MAF, and split out .....one for the old MAF, and one for the old IAT. You can just unplug the IAT, and leave the sensor in there, until you change the duct...plug it up....etc. If you have to do any splicing, you have the wrong harness.

Can I just us the existing IAT and just get the adapter 3/5 wire adapter for the MAF? In other words, not use the IAT in the LS6 Maf.
To clarify...Do I need to use the IAT in the LS6 MAF?

I guess you don't, but I don't see the point of buying the adapter harness, and not doing the conversion.

I already bought the harness (without the IAT splice)...during engine rebuild...and then found about the split adapter. So either I use this one or buy the splitter.

The new MAF connector should have the wires for the MAF and the IAT. The IAT sensor is built into the LS6 MAF. If you look inside the MAF you can see it. Its a small black bulb that protrudes from the inside the MAF wall.
If it were me,,, I would just CUT OFF the wires on the old IAT and splice them on to the NEW MAF connector. Leave the old IAT in the ducting for a PLUG!
