You can take the bulb out the back, or solder in a resistor and "trick" the system.

Someone has the thread on how to. I use to

And Cwiss the wheel doug posted is the same wheel just rewrapped, unless you get the D-style which is a little more sporty but probably the same diameter.
Just silly mods that take away from the car-sorry I think the SRS is an important safety feature and that the stock wheel is fine.

Maybe he should get one of those old timey small wheels made out of CHAIN LINK like on the Ghetto Cruisers-SWEET!

Maybe like this:

I understand where your coming from Doug I myself have a 5-point and when you strap yourself in, you ARE IN lol so in my eyes in something still happens, well, it was just mention to be.

Lol the wheels are a possibility for ppl maybe in NYC but Cwiss seems pretty southern, any wheel ideas for that? Lol

in this truck:

This is the wheel I will be using when I do the swap in my z

When i changed out the wheel in my miata, the hub I bought came with a resistor that simply plugged in and fooled the airbag system so the light went off.

I'd love to know what hubs are available for the corvette as well!

as far as quality goes... grant wheels are cheap pep boys crap as far as I'm concerned... if you're going to remove your airbag, you should at least get hit in the face with something nice when you get in an accident!

try Nardi (above posted wheel), sparco, and personal for good quality products as far as steering is concerned!

you will get bagged on this forum for considering the change, air bag light solved easy a 2ohm - 5 watt resistor in the base of the column fixes it.
If you do a search there is a couple of threads on the vette truck steering wheel with plenty of adaptor kits etc with pics.

Why? The stock wheel is huge, kills leg room, provides less steering feedback, and is just plain ugly. I drove for 15 years in non-airbag cars. Besides, I am not sold on driver's airbags, anyway. Too many stories about people getting hurt from when they deploy in low speed collisions. I wear my race harnesses at the track, anyway.

Here is my steering wheel. No pics of it installed, though. I bought black w/red stitching shift and parking brake boots from Redline to match, and the seats I am installing are also black w/red stitching.

Small does not equal good. Have you gone to the track and taken driving lessons?

There's not THAT much change between a MOMO wheel or Sparco a 330mm would do just fine.

when i was 14 i snuck out and uhh hum "borrowed" my moms car and went for a drive. anyway long story short it had rained, deep water puddle and just enough deceleration, but didnt hit anything or nothing i was only going 35 to begin with and the dadgum airbag nailed me in the face and broke my nose. so no not a big fan. i know this is a freak accident and all but... impressionable minds and some such stuff. but that isnt my reason for wanting a new steering wheel. it's mostly the leg room thing bc it's already hard to shift in boots but it's a bear when you cant move your knees because the dang steering wheel is sitting in my lap

Crowders Customizing sells a resistor kit. I have two, because I was going to take both bags out of my 95 Z/28. Ended up not doing it, so if your interested in one or both PM me.

I agree, if you have time to do all that running around. I'm pretty busy, it was simpler and worth it for me just to get it sent to me all wired up and ready to go.

Not formal lessons but I've got some friends/relatives/family that are pretty active in alot of the different types of racing so i've got some cart and dirt-track, and straight line experiance. BUT no real street tracks. we don't have those around here that i'm aware of. but i figure i know how to handle dirt very very well on twisty trails out through the woods so traction loss shouldn't be as hard as losing your tail end in a sand pit or muddy corner.... it's all pretty much the same concept? or is there some magical thing about the rubber producing smoke that makes it harder to control??? and that's a serious question not being a smart-A or nothing
