put in a new cam and springs and 7.4 pushrods motor is ticking loud, also i have dropped the compresion a little with cometic gaskets .40 i think, could this be the problem..
Gaskets shouldn't be the issue. Lifter preload may, what did you set it at?
didn't do a preload just installed everything new and went to 26fp i believe and thanks for getting back so soon, dont now if i will be able to sleep tonight, also to give you heads up new injecktors 60# and new exhaughst, and d1 procharger,

Also check for exhaust leaks, they can sometimes sound like a lifter noise.
not an exhaust leak for sure its all brand new,and the pushrods are not adjustable car has car ran for only 2min and the moror has not ran in 8 months do you think the lifters need to pump up..
What cam? 7.4 from what I have read here is the #1 size pushrod for aftermarket cams. You say you only ran it for 2 mins? I would think that it would take longer to pump up the cam. Did you tighten the rockers with the lifters on the base of the cam?
Believe it or not, I had a spark plug that wasn't tight enough and it would sounded exactly like a failed lifter. I just had the car in the shop to R&R the plugs a couple of weeks before. But when I heard the ticking I decided to add a cam and other stuff. That's when I found the loose spark plug and laughed at myself for freaking out and buying all the new upgrades.
I just did H/C/I install and threw in the LS7 lifters for "good measure"... Most guys upgrade all of that stuff when doing those mods..to me... just seems like good ins.

Actually you have increased the compression by using a thinner head gasket.
What size cam - or more importantly what lobe design did you install? An aggressive ramp rate is going to result in increased valvetrain noise. But the fact you didn't measure for proper pushrod length or check your rocker arm contact pattern leaves you wide open to not knowing if your geometry is correct. Do some searching on Vettenuts' posts regarding valvetrain geometry. He has already done the work for us to know how to properly measure and setup a valvetrain.
