Default C5 Oil

Did Mobil 1 come in a 04 C5 from the factory, I thought it was the norm to put a least 10,000 miles before running Synthetic, I am working on a 57 Chevy which has the complete drivetrain from a 04 C5 that only has 200 miles as it was bought right from GM without body, I want to run whatever was recommened for the 04 C5 ??

You can run synthetic from the get-go, no worries.

Yes, the factory fill is 5W30 Mobil 1. The LS engines really don't need anything special for break-in. If it were my powertrain I'd stick with Mobil 1. If you have a chance would love to see some photos of your car.

Personally, I think its best to be careful with the engine during break-in, running the engine in widely different modes...high speed, low speed, power, cruising and etc... Yes, Mobil 1 5/30 is the standard from the factory for the LS engines and its very good oil. I've been using Mobil 1 since the late '60's when it first came out and its been good stuff to say the least. Example, 357K miles in a Scirocco, 159K miles on a Goldwing, 324K miles in my '99 Corvette( and still going strongl!), 105K miles in my '07 Corvette and still perfect.
