Default Help from Dubai! Codes below...

Hi

I wrote a post a while back when my modified C5 was in the shop for a service and the said I needed to replace the BCM and brake control valve. I live in Dubai and nobody really specialises in Corvettes out here (not even Chevy it seems!).

Basically the common 'service ABS/Trac control/active handling' notices and lights were on. I had not pulled the codes, but the said i needed to replace these very expensive parts. I stopped the work and pulled the codes for anyone that can help. Not sure which ones are relevant, so I have put them all (a lot it seems!!) here:

10 PCM P0300 H
28 TCS C1214 H C
38 RTD U1016 H

40 BCM No Codes

58 SDM U1000 H
58 SDM U1016 H
58 SDM U1040 H
58 SDM U1096 H

60 IPC No Codes

80 RADIO No Comm (I have a non stock installed)

99 HVAC B0361 H C
HO LDCM B2226 H
HO LDCM B2252 H
HO LDCM B2282 H
HO LDCM B2284 H
HO LDCM U1255 H
HO LDCM U1064 H
HO LDCM U1016 H
HO LDCM U1096 H

H1 RDCM B2283 H
H1 RDCM B2285 H
H1 RDCM U1255 H
H1 RDCM U1064 H
H1 RDCM U1016 H
H1 RDCM U1096 H

H6 SCM No Codes

I've had the other basic work done - service, brakes spark plugs etc etc and got it back, but I think further things need doing.

They did a diagnostic and they said I needed the BCM ($1,600) + Valve (they originally said $360, but when part arrived and they installed they said a mistake was made and it was $2,700!) Massive alarm bells, so just got them to take both out. They also said I needed a Power Control module for $700.

In short, I don't trust these guys (even though Chevy sent me to them!). Can anyone throw me a lifeline and advise in any way?

The car drives well apart from no ABS etc issue. 1st to 2nd gear change is very aggressive due to the tuning I assume. Also idles slightly low/cuts out if I restart after a short time (fine overnight/1-2hours) again I think due to tuning.

Thanks in advance!

Joff

You've got a lot of codes there from cylinder misfires, ebtcm issue, hvac actuator and lots of low battery codes. I suggest you clear all of them, then restart and see what comes back before digging in.

Think you bought someone elses calamity. Till you can find a GOOD aftermarket tuner (NOT A GM DEALER), this WILL get worse.

I agree clear the code.
The battery must be in good shape if not replace it.
post the new codes after a few days driving.
I will get the a link to repair the traction control-I have to find it.
Bill likely lead you to the ground points-poor ground connections is a likey cause for some of these codes.
Also check the battery connections even if the battery is new.

Bill, thanks so much for your response in the other post. Thanks for your efforts.

Ok, here goes:

So I cleared the codes a while ago and have driven around for about a week. Now the codes are as shown:

PCM - P0300 H
PCM - P0410 H C

TCS - C1214 H C

HVAC - B0361 H
HVAC B0441 H

I then cleared the codes again and the only one that remained (i.e. would not let me reset to say 'no codes') was the TCS - C1214 H C. This was the same when i cleared the codes the first time.

In terms of the mods on it, i do not know them all, not an engine guy, but it has sports exhaust, sports intake and the guy who owned it tuned it (he has about 5 corvette's and does it for a few people in Dubai). I really don't know what other things are different with my limited knowledge. It has lots of other cool stuff like Lambo/scissor doors, external headlamps, DVD player etc, but obviously nothing to do with the engine.

Anything you can tell from those codes before I try and do some DIY (slash make use of the lack of labour laws in the UAE and pay someone not much with more knowledge to do it for me!)

Thanks
Joff

Fill out your avitar info... What year car do you have?

Your A.I.R system is NOT functioning for both banks. You need to do some troubleshooting to see if the system works at cold start up:

Well I've had it for nearly 2 years and it's never broken down and been driven every day, so not that bad! A lot of the above codes are because I went away for 3 months while the temperature was 50 degrees out here!

50 degreees!! Is that some kind of issue? Get well below zero here during the winter.

What year is your car? Makes a world of difference re your 1214 code. 2001-up, you may well be able to fix yourself at low/no cost. If you have an earlier car you could be out of luck. Info is here on the Forum.

It is a 2001 Convertible. I have been in contact with Absfixer.com and they can do it for $150, but will have to ship to USA obviously. Is this the best thing to do? The lights used to go on and off, but now on permanently. I've had a look at the self EBCM repair and it is out of my comfort zone. Guess I could get a mechanic to do it here...

If you know someone over there who is VERY good at soldering circuit boards then you can take it to them and have them do this: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...r-fleabay.html

Otherwise send it out. If the board gets screwed up you'll have to spring for a replacement module... Far more expensive than shipping.

For 2001 + Send the EBTCM to one of the ABS fixers of your choice.. Its an INTERNAL EBTCM issue!!!!!!!!!!!

Unless you are ready, willing and able to ship out your module for repair on your on youre own!!

If its a TRUE 1214 C issue,,,,,,,,,, send it out to who ever is able to resolve your module issue!!!! DTC1214 is an internal module relay issue!
