Hello,
The dash on my 2000 C5 flickers at night. Anybody have any idea what the cause might be or where I should take it for repair? I am in Portland, OR.
I have noticed this happening the past few times I've driven my 02 lately. The headlights dim a little and the dash lights flicker when pressing the brakes. Had the battery checked but it showed nothing unusal. I'm also curious what may be causing this.

There are a few things that can cause this. All depends on what type of FLICKERING your seeing. Does it just DIM slightly when you apply a load to the system OR, continuously flicker when the dash lights are ON?
Recommend that you read the actual battery voltage AT THE BATTERY TERMINALS when the engine is running.. Report the voltage and report if you see a steady state voltage reading when the charging system is under LOAD.
What voltage do you see on the IPC volt meters (digital & analog)???
Report that voltage with and without the engine running.
The voltage readings on the IPC is NOT the actual battery voltage. Is a voltage reading after the ignition switch and that switch can cause a significant voltage drop and cause the same issue your experiencing.
I use to see mine dim slighty at the same spot on a freeway at night going home. In my case, it was the alternator switching from a high rate charge to a lower rate charge following the startup about 10 miles earlier....at least that's what I think it was. Always repeated at the same place on the way home.
