Electrical Problem
It sounds like a ground problem to me. Has anybody experienced this?

When the battery is defective or severly aged,, cranking the engine can and will cause all the modules to reset to the default factory settings!!
You have several issues all at once.
1.As the car sits,, with the key on read the battery voltage reading at the DIC digital volt meter on the IPC. Use a digital Volt Meter and read the battery voltage directly on the battery terminals!
With the engine running,, read the battery voltage reading at the DIC digital volt meter on the IPC. Use a digital Volt Meter and read the battery voltage directly on the battery terminals!
POST the readings!
2. REMOVE the battery and have it fully tested at a local parts store.
3. Clean the battery cable terminals. Flush them out with brake parts cleaner and scrub with a wire brush.
4. When you reattach them to the battery, if you have a 97-03 C5,, TORQUE the terminals down to 11 ft/lbs.
5. With a known good battery, read the battery voltage reading at the DIC digital volt meter on the IPC with the key on and also engine running.
POST the readings!
Read and post your DTC. Clear them and see if any come back after ypu drive the car.

I haven't checked voltage readings or done any diagnoses yet. I was hoping for a common problem that I can go directly to. What you say about the modules resetting makes sense though. I'll start with voltage drops.
Thanks, Dennis

There are TOOOOOOOOOO many variables to give you one "DO THIS" sumation... So,,,,,,,,,,,, providing the data, will help NARROW down the possibilities!
We will get it fixed,, NO DOUBT!
