C5 Random Stalling
I hope someone can help!! I recently purchased 1998 coupe, I've been having problems with it stalling randomly. I'll start the engine, shift it into gear, as I release my foot from the brake the engine stalls. It will start up with no problem and idle. I have pressed and released the brake while in park and it continues to run fine. I've shifted it into neutral and released the brake and it runs fine. I put it into gear and release the brake and it stalls. I have to restart the engine several times before it will run with out stalling. This doesn't happen all the time, it has occured when the engine is cold and has occured when its been running for a while. Ufortunately I've had to a mechanic and it hasn't occured while he's had it. I just replace the gas filter, has anyone experienced the same, this is very frustrating.

Thank you for the quick response. There is nothing listed on the DIC and when it was in the shop the mechanic said there were no codes showing up on the computer. Its frustrating because its so random, but when it does stall it takes 5 or 6 attempts before it runs.

Very common on cold air intakes for owners or shops to over oil a K&N style filter----
The extra oil is sucked into your MAF and fouls it---The engine will do strange things as the fuel system is getting mis-informaton ---The oil burns onto the tiny MAF wires and does not work properly-----try cleaning the MAF with Brakeclean--clean the screen if it has one -Be careful not to touch the wires or screen----drive it apprx 50 miles for it to relearn the trims---

I want to thank you all for for your advice. I believe the random stalling has been corrected. I had the battery charged, had the ground connections checked, there was no corrosion and changed the fuel filter. One or all of them did the trick. Thank you again for all your help
