I was idling at a red light tonight and got my first Check Engine Light. Pulled over, opened the hood and engine was still there. So I ran codes and it showed PCM - 442 H C. I cleared the code and it has not returned yet throughout 3 restarts so far.
Before your try/replace anything else, pull the driver's side fuel rail cover and follow your evap line until you find a small green cap. Make sure that cap is screwed on tightly. I've seen that cap come loose over time on two different C5's and that will give you a small evap leak...
Also, make sure you tighten your gas cap until it clicks several times after filling up.
Very common code---P0442 ia a "small" evap leak----99% of the time it'sjust the gas cap--either it was not put on squarely---OR it has started to leak internally---The "H" on your code means History--which means it's an old code----clear it and check the cap instalation---If it re-apears get a new cap---BUT don't get a cheapie fram or O-rielly one--get a GM cap as the aftermarkets are generally a "one size fits all" and don't seal well either---

I always replace such items with GM - even if this is my problem it lasted 11 years!

New to corvettes and wanted to say thanks to the forum. Had a PCM 442 code and followed the advice above. We'll see how it goes. The small green cap is in the middle clearly marked evap port.

I've had that code happen twice since I purchased my car.
First time - gas cap has to be replaced.
About 3 yrs and 1600 miles later had it happen a 2nd time -
"vent solenoid" had to be replaced this time. Around $200 at my local dealer.
