Seems to be hit or miss when one gets their motor built by a shop. Good luck with everything. I assume you spun a bearing already? Is anything in the motor salvageable?
I'm not sure that I have spun a bearing. I do have an accusump on the motor that kept giving it the 30psi until I got in the garage. Then the accumsump ran out. I hope it is all salvageable because I have some top of the line parts in there.

Have you identified the parts in the pic you posted?
Not yet. Just drained and dropped the pan and filter today, and then pulled the oil pump. That's as far as I have gotten. I will go through it completely, and will keep you guys posted as I figure things out.
How many miles did you get out of it? Going on memory, was it a 409CID? I know it was over 400. What were you having done? For 10K you should get a completely new engine, heads, etc.

I've driven it for less than 300miles since I picked it up, and 180 of those are back and forth from my house to Taylor Farm Rd (that's where their shop is). It's 409ci, and I got a typical rebuild with rings, bearings, gaskets, etc, plus I needed pistons, they decked the heads, and cleaned the injectors. They got my clutch rebuilt too. It's a spec stage 3.
Is this the same VA Speed I think it is? I thought they had a sterling reputation, what happened? They were on my short list if I ever did a larger motor.
Sorry about your engine, hope it all works out for you.
Yes, probably the same VA Speed... Unfortunately. I'm seeing that there are quite a few other people that have had issues with them too. Going to them is one of those decisions I wish I could go back and "undo".
Yeah, the original 409 pulled strong and I got some good use out of it, other than the head gasket that needed to be replaced at some point.
The oil pump drive shaft in the pic was still attached to the oil pump when I dropped it. It's just in the pic to show where the metal piece had rubbed the end.
I have to ask, why wouldn't they tune the car before you picked it up?
Sounds silly for them to charge you 10k and not tune the so it at least runs well before it leaves?
