Can you say 410 c.i. Stroker Motor fed by Twin Turbos.
My car is sold & an '03 Z06 is going to replace it. It's gonna get a Supercharged 427 (Magnuson)

It is very artistic, but what is being accomplished? As a roadracer, we always built cages with the intent of occupant protection in the event of a crash first and then chassis stiffening.
I'm not trying to be a smart azz, I'm just trying to understand the logic used here. I'm guessing that the intent here is to stiffen the chassis diagonally and not save your noggin in the event of a rollover crash. But if doing it that way makes it safer in a roll over, perhaps I can employ some of these ideas in the next set up that I build. I'm interested in hearing the design intent. I'm not looking for a fight.
PKmoose: Thanks Bro
QWKAZEL: Is it too pretty and thats why it will get moved? :D
Darth: Thanks Bro! See you at the shop tomorrow.
C5stein: Mark Griggs, the guy that designed the cage has been building race cages for over 15 years. His favorite saying is "You only die once, so lets not make that happen in a race car" The bars in the footwell are for support of the chassis. On the passenger side one is a foot rest for the navigator if you have one. If you look there are tabs on the curved bars by the doors. Those tabs hold the diagonal bar that is removable. I did not have them in when I took the picture. The reason for the bend in the bars by the doors is in case of a side impact. If there was just the NHRA diagonal bar there and you took a side impact that bar would definately break some bones because it would hit you at very specific locations on the body. Marks theory is that this type of bar would hit the entire side of your body at one time, there for spreading the impact over a larger surface, and minimize the injury. The x brace is lower. In all his years he has never had a main hoop colapse, and most of his stuff is for road racers who do roll there cars. Thanks for the questions and I hope I cleared up a few things.

Thanks for the info. I guess that there are alot of points that I hadn't considered. I did see the tabs on the forward wedge bars but didn't know what they were for. Diagonal door bars would surely triangulate the door openings, which was one of my big concerns. I'm assuming that the rear wedge bars working with the horizontal x brace keep the hoop in tact. Do you think you could IM or email me the cage builder's info (like e-mail) address. I've got a small shop in Sacramento and am often getting requests for roll bars. Like I said, the style fit and finish is very impressive.
About the foot rest, you aren't going to let somebody put their dirty grimey shoes on that beutiful bar are you?  I guess you could have them take their shoes off. :yesnod: :yesnod: :D
Thanks for answering my dumb questions. I'm always interested in seeing things through other people's eyes. And your insight, while it breaks from the traditional cages that we have built, makes alot of sense. :yesnod:
Thanks again, Mark
