Well, the 'Vette is at the Chevy dealer and the verdict is in.....
Exactly as 8Vette7 predicted, of course.....
fried relay due to low battery voltage
The car is getting a new battery, new relay, oil change (I guess they threw that in for good measure), all to the tune of $569.00.
Once it gets to me here in California, I will act on the good advice given here to prevent this from ever happening again (i.e. install CLB, remove K harness, change 2 mph parameter to 200 mph).
Thanks to all who replied and especially 8Vette7 who went above and beyond the call of duty.
Same EXACT problem happened to my 2000. My local dealer did the fix itself only and charged me $750.00 and that's no battery and no oil change.
Not sure where you live in L.A. Greuvin, but don't have your Vette serviced in Thousand Oaks at Silver Star Chevrolet for any reason....total crooks.
They were also going to charge me $400 to fix the turn signal issue (common C5 problem). I've lived with it till I recently came back to the forum here and found out you can either buy the stock part for $25.00 and take the radio out to get to it, or plug in an LED compatible relay harness under the steering column. ($70). They were trying to tell me the whole top of the dashboard had to be removed and would take half a day.

Oh, that makes me feel a bit better......in kind of a backhanded way, of course.
My car is in NJ at the moment and will be shipped here Wednesday. No telling when it will actualy arrive, but once it does, I will be sure to avoid those guys. Thanks for the heads-up!
The turn signal blinker module goes bad over time. Mine works intermittently and I have to smack the dash right above the hazard switch to get it to start working again. Sometimes, it doesn't respond to me smacking it around.
The blinker module is inside the hazard switch, so it necessitates you to pull the center console and radio out to get to it. It's not hard, from what I can see, but it will take you about an hour or so to do it. The blinker module on eBAY, new, runs about $25.00. Or, you can get a blinker harness from Corvette Central that plugs in under the steering column that bypasses the module in the dash for the turn signals. I'm going this route, not only for an easier install, but because I'm putting LED's in eventually as their harness also cures hyper flash if you are planning to use any LED's for your tail lights or front turn signals.
Oh, forgot to mention that the column lock was "fixed" by the Chevy dealer about 2 years ago as part of a recall. Is it possible this is still at fault? I'm not sure if it has the "K" harness or what.
Man, this is difficult because the car is 3,000 miles away.
Yup, sounds like Recall #2 was done. That results in fuel cutoff at 2mph malfunction. As stated earlier, replace the battery if you can. That may allow you to at least get it transported. (you need one anyway) Then you need the PCM to be modified to set fuel cutoff to be 255mph. Any reputable tuner can do this that has HP Tuners. Remove the K-harness and install a CLB Get it from Corvettes of Houston.
