Default A4 Transmission, NEED HELP!!!

Going on a cruise I put the car in Drive, but when the car pulled out of 1st and into 2nd It felt like I wasn't in gear. When I gave the car more gas it finally got out of 2nd and went into 3rd to were I could continue driving. So then I stopped, put the car in 2nd (manually) and gave it some gas. The car rolled very slowly (5-10mph) until close to 4k rpm, then which it felt like the torque converter locked up and it launched on me LIKE A BAT OUTTA HELL, than almost immediately hit the rev limiter. I suppose the best way to describe it is that it feels like the torque converter is slipping in 2nd gear, however, in all other gears it drives perfectly fine. Is something stuck in the Valve body perhaps?

Have you checked the fluid level? Pulled codes?

Car was driven maybe 200ft, while cold. fluid levels seem fine, but I'm not sure how to pull the codes on that car.

What do you mean it "seems" fine? Did you go through the check/fill procedure, and verify it is good?

Checked it last night, and lighting wasn't optimal. I'm a bit busy, but Ill check in the near future under proper lighting and with proper tools. Btw, thanks for the link! Ill also pull the codes when I do everything else. I'm just hoping something might be just clogged in the valve body. I did plan on pulling the transmission this summer, just not so soon..

Because time is everything for me. This is my DD, so I took a gamble asking, hoping, someone perhaps had a similar issue and could send me in the right direction. Sorry... Didn't think it would hurt to just ask.

This question came up in another thread. If you would update your sig, it would prevent confusion.

Did you check the fluids personally or did a dealer do it?

In a nutshell, pure laziness. The internet (and this forum) has created it. People just want a quick fix, without having to do any homework themselves. As long as these folks are spoon fed from this forum, they have no incentive to be proactive. Yes, everyone has time constraints like work, kids, family issues, illness, etc. How in the world did we work on cars before the internet?

WTF is with all these negative posts on here?? Don't like the thread don't frickin' post. This is a FORUM where people ask QUESTIONS to get ANSWERS. This is also the TECH section. Some people do not have a lot of car knowledge so they need our help.

God, some people on here need a ****ing beer or something....

Hallelujah!! Btw, I checked the fluid level myself but as stated by the other guy, I half assed it due to lazziness, or having priorities such as school and studies Anyways, just checked again, and fluid levels are fine. A buddy is loaning me his car, so this weekend ill be pulling the transmission and rear for a torque converter swap (if I can find one for the right price), and while at it ill clean the valve body and put fresh fluid in. I've got my fingers crossed!!

Sounds like your are rolling the dice here. If you are not confident about diagnosing the problem, take it to a compitent shop for an eval. The last thing you want, is to get everything back together, and find out you have the same problem.

Good luck.

Thanks, I might break the transmission from the rear end and have it sent to a local shop to get checked out prior to reinstalling. At least Ill save money by not having them pull it.
