Did they add any heavy duty parts to keep it from breaking again?
Who did the work?
Ron
Nope. Had it rebuilt to factory specs. A built trans is out of my budget, and with this being a DD I needed it on the road ASAP I'm gonna try to go easy on her for a while, then stepup to a 4l80 when money permits. Also, I had a local guy do the work. Let me see if I can find his card. On top of the rebuild, all he added was a shift kit. 600 bucks out the door.

I'm no where close to you. So no need for the builder name.
But thanks.
I wasn't aware that there was a 4L80 that bolts into the C5.
Guys?
I also have read that there is no need for a shift kit in these, the computer can be programmed to do the same thing.
Guys?
I wish we had a trans expert here to consult.
Thanks for the info and good luck getting back on the road!
Interesting. I have a new Yank SS3600 and it looks quite a bit different. It is 9.5".
But I think there are a couple of different Yank 3600 units.
I love the sticker on the back that says "Yank it to get off quicker"
I will certainly have help when I take mine out. If I were to remove the torque tube along with it, I'd probably upgrade to the later stronger unit. Which is not in the budget.....
Thanks for the pics! I need to get my A$$ in gear on the engine work so I can get to the back of the car.

I have read somewhere on here they are putting a 4L80 or the internal parts in our C5s. You are correct about reprogramming the tranny thru the computer. A&A raised the shift points, the tranny pressure and shortened the shift time on my vert when they installed the hi-stall,along with all the other goodies in sig.

I wasn't aware that the 4l80 would fit, but the guy who rebuilt my 4l60 told me the 4l80 was the way to go. After a little reading, it seems to be a doable swap but some cutting into the floor will be required.

The guy I purchased this unit from said that it was an older one.
Finally finished the rebuild!! Got everything bolted back in and filled with fresh fluids! Today I took it out to see how the stock shift points feel with a stall that high, anyways, seems OK (just need to adjust the lock up speed for 4th). So far no leaks or foreign sounds, so now I'm ready to put some miles on it so I can get through the "break in" period. Next step is the cam. Hopefully I can pick up the remainder of the parts within a few months.
