Default A1 RDCM No Comm

Just got into my vette and the passenger lock and window are not working. Pulled codes and got A1 RCDM No Comm. RFA had codes 1096, 1064, and 1016 all H. I can fix almost any mechanical part in a c5 but electric throws me for a loop. It's a 2000 coupe with a newer battery showing 12.6 volts. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thank you, Rod

If the modules dont have power you get those NO COMMS DTCs. Check the fuses and check for 12 VDC Battery at the fuses also. If you clear ALL thre DTCs, do they come right back? Are the H or C DTCs??

If power is good, make sure that the module chassis grounds are good.

Also, try wiggling the door accordion to that door while holding down the window down button, you could have a bad connector in there. Bill has a great pic of what a bad female pin looks like in those accordions...

Thanks for the quick responses!! I cleared the codes and they did not return. The " no comm" is still there. The battery has 12.6 strong accross the terminals. Are the fuses in the main box under the hood or elsewhere? I'll go down to the garage right now and check around and let you know what I find. [I hate electrical stuff] Rod

I checked the fuses first and they were good. I wiggled and tapped on the accordion and the window and door lock worked as long as I played with the accordion. Bill, Trios said you have a picture of what the connectors look like. If you could post it or PM it to me I would be most grateful. I don't want to pull the door apart and play with this stuff blind. You helped me out once before on a decision for shocks and bars and it really made a difference in the handling. Thanks again guys!! Rod

Glad the issue was that easy to pinpoint.

Here is a link to where Bill showed me the picture when I was troubleshooting my own door problems:

To fix a pin like that, you can take a very small slotted screwdriver (just a bit bigger than a jeweler's driver) down the back of the connector (where the wires go in) and kind of push the spring surface outward. It's hard to explain, post back if you have trouble.

Trios, thank you for responding to my problem. The picture you posted from Bill is just what I need. I'll try to get into the door this weekend. If I run into trouble, I'll give you a shout! By the way, we may be moving to the Seattle area in 2 or 3 years. How is the weather for driving a Vette in the winter. Do you store it or drive all year. Here in Socal it's 24/7/365. Thanks again, Rod

Seattle in the winter, eh...

We don't usually get more than a few inches per year here, the Blizzaks were bought more for the ice/cold temperatures than for snow, but they got a workout in the snow also. No way I'd store the car, I enjoy driving it too much.

No need to get into the door. Just pop out the rubber accordion tubes and you pull the connectors out of the hole in the body A pillar.

It was nearly 8:30 his time...

Good catch Bill, I didn't read into the "into the door" thing and I'm glad you came along before he had a lot more work than necessary.
